Introduction to Product Options

Overview

Giftship’s Product Options tool lets you add drag-and-drop blocks to any Shopify product page — collecting information from customers right when they add to cart. Use it for product upsells and bundles, gift messages, delivery date pickers, and more. We have a block for everything.

Blocks live inside option sets. Create unlimited option sets, each with full control over which products it displays on:

All products
A select number of individual products
Products within a particular collection

We recommend the collection method — when you add new products to your Shopify store, you won’t need to manually update the option set’s display rules.

On the Blocks tab, choose from 20 different blocks and counting, including:

Upsells — smart, where Shopify picks the complementary products for you, or regular, where you choose

Every block is fully customizable, and you can add unlimited blocks to any option set — then drag and drop to reorder them.

You can also set display logic between blocks. For example, a gift message block can be configured to only display once a customer has selected an upsell.

Configuring a Block

Every block includes two primary tabs: Block Options and Display Rules.

The most important setting is the input name — this is the most important part of configuring a block. Name it after the information you’re collecting, and avoid changing it later. This is what shows up in the order data — the customer never sees it. We recommend keeping it lowercase and simple. You’ll also reference the input name when printing the information, adding it to order confirmation templates, or creating automatic order tags.
