Sending non-physical products to multiple recipients

Giftship offers the ability for your customers to send your digital and non-physical products to multiple recipients via email, or SMS.

Since some digital download apps do not recognize orders created via Shopify’s API, they will not work with this process. For a list of tested applications, please view the end of this article.

To enable this feature, first navigate to Shopify Admin -> Apps -> Giftship -> Shipping to Multiple Addresses. Under the heading for “Digital & Non-Physical Products”, enable the toggle to allow recipients email addresses and mobile numbers to be added for non-physical products.

Apps that work with Giftship’s multiple shipping address process:

Testing on the below application showed that a link to the downloadable product was present on the order status page, allowing recipients who recieved a notification via text message, or email to download their digital gift.

Testing on the below applications show that a link is correctly sent to the recipient containing a page where content is downloadable. Neither applications show the download link on the order status page of the order that is created by Giftship, and do not notify the recipient via text message if a mobile number is added. If using either of the below applications, you will need to disable the ability to add a mobile phone number for the recipient in Giftship’s settings.

Apps that do not work with Giftship’s multiple shipping address process:

Shopify’s free digital download app does not work with Giftship. Testing showed that no links are present on the order status page on orders created by Giftship, and no email was sent to the specified recipient.
