Admin Draft Order Cart Options
In this guide, we will go over how to leverage Giftship’s Cart Options to add delivery dates, gift messages, etc., to draft orders created in the Shopify Admin.
Any draft order that has not been completed can have Cart Options details added to it. Currently, the following blocks will load in the Shopify Admin:
- Gift message
- Date picker
- Text field
- Number field
- Email field
- Phone field
- Textarea
Step 1: Create a New Draft Order
In the Shopify Admin, navigate to Orders and click “Create order”. Add products to the order and click “Save,” which will create a new Draft Order.
Step 2: Pin the Giftship Cart Options App Block
On the newly created draft order details page, find the App Blocks section below the Payment section. Here, click “+ App block” and select Giftship Cart Options. Pin the app block so that it will automatically appear on any future draft orders.

Step 3: Fill out Cart Options Fields
You should now see the Cart Options fields display in the app block. A Cart Options Set’s product display rules are applied based on the products in the draft order.
For example, the blocks in the below Cart Option Set would only appear for draft orders that contain the “Gift Message” product due to the configured display rules:

Fill out any relevant fields (empty fields will be ignored) and click “Submit” to save the data to the draft order.

Refreshing the page will allow you to see the details present on the draft order in the “Additional details” section.

Once the draft order has been completed, the Cart Options data will be pulled through to the created order, similar to how the data would appear on an order created via the Online Store checkout.
